War-related Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among Refugee Minors

Izaida Ibrahim, Muhammad Fahmi Ismail

There was a significant relationship between war-related trauma and the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among refugees. Refugee minors are especially vulnerable, and at a significant risk of developing a psychological disorder. While there are many war-related PTSD studies related to refugees worldwide, the literature that focuses specifically on war-related children and adolescents is rather limited. As an addition to the literature, we aim to provide awareness on PTSD in refugee minors by discussing their experiences, current prevalence, risk and preventative factors, clinical assessments, current evidence in the interventions, and challenges surrounding working with this specific population.
